BAKE T
DINO;MITE DINNER
As if kids don’t already love chicken
nuggets, a lot of companies now
make them in the shape of dinosaurs.
Tell your child that many dinos ate
veggies—and create this jungle scene
so he’ll chomp on his greens too.
1
HE NUGGE TS
t follow the directions on the
package; we’re partial to Yummy Dino
Buddies for being lower in calories and
saturated fat than many other brands.
2
THE VEGGIES
broccoli until softened. Shred
green cabbage or pick up a bag of it.
3
THE S TAGE
e bottom of the nuggets and
broccoli with honey mustard; stand them
up on a plate. Sprinkle on cabbage to
look like grass. With kids around, there’s
no danger of this meal going extinct.
WAY COOL!
Think that’s sherbet or sorbet in those cones?
Well, here’s the dish: It’s fruit. You simply use an
ice-cream scoop to get a rounded ball of seedless
watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew and pop it
into a store-bought cone. These Keebler ones
are great for kids because they have just
15 calories apiece and no fat. The fruit adds
another 35 calories—no biggie compared
with the 110 in a half cup of sherbet.
Berried Treasure It’s the middle of raspberry season. If you haven’t bought berries yet, do it
while they’re still cheap and use them to pump up your kid’s meals with fiber and cancer-fighting antioxidants:
Breakfast
Make a raspberry
sauce to pour on
pancakes or mix
in yogurt. Puree a
cup of berries in
the blender, then
whisk in 3 tsp.
lemon juice and 1
to 1½ Tbs. sugar.
Lunch
Skip the mayo
and place ten
raspberries in a
turkey wrap. The
berries will get
smooshed, but
that’s part of the
fun. Tell your kid
it’s a fruit roll-up.
S
Dinner
weeten your side

whole-wheat
couscous with
raspberries,
crumbled feta
cheese, chopped
