SPICE GIRL
We store herbs and spices in old
baby-food jars, and then label and
alphabetize them in our kitchen
drawers. They are easy to find and
access while I’m cooking, and I like
that we’re able to reuse the jars.

My 3
Hot Tune
-year-old daughter, Ava,
used to squirm when I tried to put
sunscreen on her in the morning,
so now I sing “The Hokey-Pokey”
to her while I put on the lotion. It
makes the routine more
njoyable, and it’s helping her to
learn her left from her right.

Shore Thing
My son’s shoes are
always full of sand
after he’s been to the
playground. To keep
the mess out of the
house, I put a bucket
on the porch for him
to empty his shoes
into. I promise him a
fun-filled trip to the
beach when it’s full.

Good Point
I sharpen both ends of my 13-month-old daughter’s
crayons, because she doesn’t yet understand which way
to pick them up. This makes it much easier for her to
draw and saves her a lot of frustration.

SE W COOL
After she outgrew her favorite Elmo
T-shirt, my 4-year-old daughter,
Emma, was upset that she’d have to
part with it. I decided to turn it into a
pillow by sewing
up the openings
and stu;ng it.
She loves it even
more now that
she can take it
every where.

Initial Thought
save time pairing up my two
girls’ socks by writing my
younger daughter’s initials in
permanent marker on the
bottom of each of her socks.
This way I can quickly see what
belongs to which child,
and they never end up with
the wrong-size socks.
