Unless you were born with super-model genes, you know how hard
it is to shed pounds. But if you
schedule your weight-loss strategies right,
you’ll be back in your skinny jeans sooner
than you think. Here, the best time to:
... start a diet: The first day of your period, according to a study in the International
Journal of Obesity. Junk-food cravings decrease during your time of the month, so it’s
easier to resist temptation.
... sweat to a fitness DVD: Late afternoon. That’s when your body temperature
peaks, which increases your strength and
flexibility. But if you only have time to exercise in the morning, no problem: The best
exercise routine is the one you can follow.
... have an afternoon snack: Three hours
after lunch, when you’re just slightly hungry.
If you wait much longer than that, you’ll be
ravenous—and liable to overeat.

log some of those lost hours on the weekend without wrecking your sleep
schedule, says Lawrence Epstein, M.D., author of The Harvard Medical
School Guide to a Good Night’s Sleep. If you missed five hours of zzz’s
during the week, for example, nab two to three extra hours over the weekend, then
aim to snooze another hour or two on Monday and Tuesday, until you’ve repaid the debt.
